Bill Grant’s family history, contributions to our community and record of leadership underlie his dedication to public service.
Having served in the State Legislature for 20 years, Bill’s straight-forward, common sense approach to improving our state and community has earned him the respect of House members on both sides of the aisle. 
Bill’s family has been farming in this area since 1858, when his great-grandfather Jonathan Pettyjohn, first homesteaded in Prescott.
Bill is the fourth generation to farm the family land, continuing a longstanding tradition.
The third of five children born to Sam and Irene Grant, Bill’s boyhood in Prescott taught him the importance of family and a love of farming.
He attended Prescott High School and was an active member in a number of clubs, such as the Future Farmers of America, and participated in student government, serving as student body president his senior year. 
Bill also lettered in football, basketball, and baseball.
After high school, Bill attended Whitman College where he met his wife Nancy Powers. They were married in 1958 and both graduated a year later.
After college, Bill taught 6th grade at Prescott School and was head coach for all high school sports until 1960 when he joined his father working on the family farm.
In 1986, Bill was elected State Representative of the 16th district where he has been an active advocate for our farmers, our small business, and education.
Bill continues to be an active member of our community. He is a member of:

- Walla Walla Historical Auto Club
- BPOElks Lodge
- Former Member of the Walla Walla Community College Board of Trustees. Bill was elected to the Chairmanship in 1985.

Bill and Nancy have four adult children, eight grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
